- Dormitory is a place to stay (temporary) student during his education at college far from his hometown. In the dorm students to interact with friends who have a variety of differences. Differences are also sometimes be the cause of conflict, one of which is communication. Therefore we need an active interpersonal communication, not only communication from one direction only but two-way mutual reciprocity. Ability to communicate effectively to establish mutual understanding, fostering friendship, nurturing compassion and inhibit the emergence of interpersonal conflicts that can interfere with social interaction in the dormitory. There are 2 (two) variables in this study, the independent variable (x) the effectiveness of interpersonal communication and the dependent variable (y), ie, interpersonal conflict. The study was a non-experimental studies with correlational research type. Subjects in this study were students living in student dormitories Malang UB 80 people. Research subjects were taken by using random sampling techniques. Methods of data collection is using a Likert scale: (1) The effectiveness of interpersonal communication (2) Interpersonal Conflict. Analysis of the data used is the product moment correlation analysis. The results obtained by data analysis (r: -0.597; sig <0.010), which means there is a very significant negative relationship between the effectiveness of Interpersonal Conflict Interpersonal Communication with the means if the higher effectiveness of interpersonal communication then the lower interpersonal conflict.
