- Along with the development of the era that caused the changes in many areas, humans are required to meet the needs of life as well as develop your own potential for happiness and prosperity can be created in his life. Inability to deal with these changes can cause new problems that eventually becomes a psychological pressure that comes anxiety, frustration, depression and stress. In one of the inmates and the factor has an important role in minimizing the stress that is the existence of social support from the people closest to the individual to feel the attention or assistance that can help solve his problems. This study aims to determine the relationship of social support with the level of stress on inmates at the Detention Situbondo. Social support is a concern that the provision of advice, emotional support and information in the form of verbal or non-verbal from the people closest to that felt by individuals when faced with the problem so as to provide the benefits of emotional or behavioral effects for the individual in resolving the problem. Stress is a feeling of distress in physiological or psychological well perceived by the individual because of an imbalance between environmental demands and constraints in which the claim exceeds the limits of individual ability. The subjects in this study is a new inmate who first entered the Rutan Situbondo with the terms of the sentence is less than 6 months with a total 45 people. Subsequently, the whole subject as a sample in this study with the technique of purposive sampling technique. Data collection techniques used were a scale of social support scale and the scale of stress levels. In this research, get the result that the value of r is 0.158 and P of 0, 298 which means there is no relationship between social support with stress level, because in the environment correctional facility is the primary stressor. Of the 45 respondents there were 26 inmates or as much as 57.78% had high social support, while 19 inmates or as much as 42.22% had low social support. As for the stress levels of 45 inmates, 23 inmates or 51.11% had levels of stress at a high level while the 22 inmates or 48.89% had a low stress level. Then the calculation of correlation coefficient of determination obtained by 0.025 or 2.5%, indicating Praise be to Allaah effectiveness of social support from family has effective contribution rate of 2.5% while the rest (100% -2.5% = 97.5%) caused by other factors .
