Identity, in its development not only explain the who, but how should a person get better, that's what the individual needs of social identity, part of one's self concept which is a reflection of one's participation in the social environment. Basically, the process of acculturation and assimilation can lead to variations of social identity. Malang City as the city education into the town meetings of the various cultures that can be a facilitator and allow individuals, especially students interact with various cultural and social identity shift allows the student. Tribe Banjar in South Kalimantan as indigenous peoples have a student who almost scattered throughout the campus in the city of Malang. With the general characteristics of Banjar people who have the solidarity and the dignity of the tribal high, making students Banjarese interesting to study social identity. This research is a descriptive qualitative and quantitative methods as a secondary method that aims to find out how the social identities of students Banjarese in Malang city and find out how social comparison processes that occur in subjects with high and low social identity. The instrument used is the scale of social identity that serves as a tool in the selection of subjects and separate students into two categories Banjar. Furthermore, the method used in this study were interviews and also use observation as a method of support. Subjects who were included in the first of 40 subjects. To find out how social comparison processes that occur in each category, taken a few people to do the interview subjects. From the research that has been done, as many as 24 people subjects (60%) fall into the category of high social identity, and as many as 16 subjects (40%) fall into the category of high social identity.
