  • Diabetes constitutes metabolic disorder clinic syndrome characterized by hyperglycemia because of insulin secretion defect, insulin work, or both. One of the Diabetes Mellitus chronic complications is neuropathy autonomy causing neurogenic bladder enhancing urine residue in urine bladder as infection reservoir. This study aims at investigating the correlation between Diabetes Mellitus suffering period and asymptomatic bacteriurea to the DM type II patients. This study is an observational analytic employing cross­sectional method. Samples were represented by hospitalized patients suffering from Diabetes Mellitus type II in RSU Dr. Saiful Anwar Malang from January to December 2008. The sampling technique applied was total sampling. The data was analyzed by Spearman analitic methods. It was significant if p < 0,05. The results showed that prevalence of bacteriurea to the Diabetes Mellitus type II patients was 73,1% among female patients at most 55,8%. Eschericia coli was the most prevalent microorganism responsible for positive urine culture. Based on this study, the conclusion was no correlation between Diabetes Mellitus suffering period and asymptomatic bacteriuria, it was seen from value of significanty 0,717 > p ( 0,05).
