  • Social adjustment is important in the lives of street children because they have to adjust to the surroundings either at home, at school, or in the workplace. Social adjustment is the success of a person to conform to other people in general and against the group in particular. Good social adjustment is not easy many conditions that can cause difficulty for individuals to make a good social adjustment. This research is a qualitative descriptive study aimed to describe the social adjustment of street children. Data collection techniques used in this research is interview and observation. The subjects consisted of 5 people to be tested because 5 people are enough to represent the street children to reveal about the social adjustment. Collecting data in this study conducted on 22 December 2005 - January 22, 2006 in Malang, precisely at the intersection Blimbing, at the intersection Sarangan, and at the intersection Rampal. Based on the results of this study concluded that the social adjustment of street children can be done entirely by street children even though a fraction of them have not been able to fully perform social adjustment with the surrounding environment. Social adjustment of street children is also influenced by their social environment acceptance of family, friends at work, friends at school, and neighboring communities, and acceptance of himself either in relation to its status as street children and her job as a musician or as a seller of newspapers, and job other street children.
