- The research based on an interesting book titled Nine Elements of Journalism (Sembilan Elemen Jurnalisme) by Bill Kovach and Tom Rosenstiel. The book is so interesting so that it got many positive responds whether from journalistic experts, news consumers, students, or from journalists themselves. The book contain the invention of Bill Kovach and Tom Rosenstiel after they observed journalism development in the world and their interview with 1200 journalists. From the research, Bill Kovach and Tom Rosenstiel concluded that there were eight principles should be fulfilled by journalism. The principles are first duty of journalistic were truth, first loyalty of journalistic were people, the core of journalistic were discipline, verification, journalist should keep independency to the news source, journalism should be an observer of authority, journalism should prepare public forum, journalistic should be comprehensive and proportional, and the last, journalist should follow their pure heart. Liputan 6 SCTV is a news which able to compete with the other news companies. Liputan 6 SCTV had reached many achievements. It proved that LIputan 6 SCTV had good image. At last, the researcher had interest to study about the suitability level of Liputan 6 SCTV news with the journalism principles of Bill Kovach and Tom Rosenstiel The researcher took legislative election theme since the research was done at March 18 – 24 2009. At that time, it was the most popular news in all television station. The news consisted of campaign, political maneuver, and deception along campaign process. The research was quantitative descriptive with contain analysis research method. The method was used since the researcher wanted to discuss the contain of Liputan 6 SCTV news. As we knew television media didn’t consist only narration, but also visual view from camera recording. By the research, the writer should owed the recording result of the LIputan 6 SCTV News. Then the researcher asked coders to do coding activity. Coding was done so that the researcher knew the indicators to measure the journalism principles of Bill Kovach and Tom Rosenstiel had been reliable or not. After coding activities, the researcher measure how much the suitability of Journalism principles of Bill Kovach and Tom Rosenstiel. The research showed that Liputan 6 SCTV news focused on interesting and relevant principle but lack of public forum principle.
