- Soybean is one of the main food commodities, as a source of vegetable protein menyeahatkan materials because they contain high protein and low cholesterol levels, which play an important role in improving the nutrition society. The need for soybeans is increasing from year to year, in line with the increase of population, development of food industry (tofu, tempeh, milk and other processed food) and animal feed. Accelerated aging techniques proven to correlate with the ability to germinate seeds in the field (Hall and Wiesner, 1990). Principles and accelerated aging test is that it is placing the seed samples over a certain period within which environmental conditions are not ideal in relatife uadara temperature high humidity. After a period of time the seeds with high vigor allegedly still showed a high germination capacity, while the seed with low vigor are expected to show a real decline in germination capacity (Kruse, 1999). Solution of methanol and ethanol can also be used in the accelerated aging test as the seed soaking solution and act as environmental conditions are not ideal for seed. The research aims to study the effect of concentration and soaking time on the rate of seed germination. Hypothesis (a) estimated the percentage of seedlings that grow on the basis of concentration and soaking time was 2%. (B) estimated that the average hypocotyl length of 11.0 cm and 3.0 cm epicotyl sprouts that grow on the basis of concentration and soaking time. (C) estimated average wet weight of 0.70 grams and 0.5 grams of dry weight of sprouts that grow on the basis of concentration and soaking time This research was conducted at the Laboratory of University of Malang to test the quality of seeds and implemented in the January-February 2008. The materials used for this research are the seeds of soybeans, water, ethanol 96% analysis, and Lumajang sand as growing media. The tools used in this study are the jars, petri dish, gauze, pipette drops, rulers, paper labels, tissue, analytical scales, ovens and germinator. In this first phase, experiments conducted using a randomized block design (RBD) with two simple (two) factors of treatment, ie soaking in ethanol (W) and ethanol concentration (K). For the duration of immersion (W), there are three levels of treatment. Length of immersion 0 W1 = W2 = Long hours of immersion one jamW3 = Length of immersion two jamUntuk concentration (K) K 0 = concentration of ethanol 0% K 1 = Concentration of 5%, K 2 = concentration of 10%, K 3 = Concentration of 15%, K 4 = Concentration 20%.
