  • Children in adult human development to the need of safe atmosphere. Feeling safe and feeling that he collected are the basic needs for each individual. Feeling safe is obtained in an atmosphere of a prosperous family. Safety and security needs is the desire or the desire for someone to get protection, security and free from any threats against him. The children saw their parents as providers of security and protection from danger. Children will gain a sufficient sense of security when they are in a family bond. Sense of security within the family is also a prerequisite for the smooth process perkembangana children. The purpose of this study was to determine differences in the safety and security needs of children who live with their parents and who live in orphanages. The variables in this study consisted of the free variable is the background shelter and dependent variable is the safety and security needs. This research was conducted at Al-Islah Orphanage and the MI Hashim Ash'ari. Sampling was purposive sampling with a sample of the research is of primary school age children grades 5 to grade 6. The number of study subjects were 62 children consisting of 31 children lived with their parents and 31 children living in orphanages. Methods of data collection by distributing scale security needs. To test the method of data analysis using t-test. This research found that t = 3245 and p = 0.002 this meant that there were differences in needs a sense of security among children who live with their parents and who lived in the orphanage that children living in orphanages have a need for a sense of security is higher than the child who live with their parents.
