- Indonesia is island riches with the natural resources. The natural resources which has been watched by the foreign investors is refers to the extractive industry, such as petroleum oil and gasses. But most of the foreign investors have been doing bad habits while they operated in Indonesia, like the asset’s taking over happened in Blok Cepu by Exxon Mobil Corporation. The exploration’s right’s conquest of Blok Cepu from Pertamina was happened when the new stock of petroleum oil and gas resource had been found in a huge value in Banyu Urip, Cepu. The problem question in this research is the Indonesian’s Government’s reason to choose Exxon Mobil in giving the exploration rights and let Exxon Mobil to be the only operator than to choose Pertamina. This research will be shown as an explanatory research by the time between November 2004 and May 2006 based on the restart time when the negotiation began until the final decision in lengthen Exxon’s work contract in Blok Cepu. The research method is using the literacy studies by collecting data’s for analyzing. Indonesia’s final decision in accepting Exxon’s lengthen work contract and also let it became the only operator in exploring Blok Cepu was never been happened without US’s penetration, whether economically or politically. And the Indonesian’s government decision to give the exploration right of Blok Cepu areas to the Exxon Mobil Corporation by the lengthen contract until 2030 was showing the under development of Indonesia, especially the weakness of Pertamina. Moreover, in the end of the negotiation Exxon Mobil also became the only operator, this showed the Indonesia’s un-independence. Keywords: Multinational Corporation, the independence of country.
