- This research was based on the phenomenon of the criminal news presentation development on the television, which motivated the planner of the television broadcasting program to provide the criminal news presentation that could attract audiences’ attention and to be able to compete with other similar program on the other television stations. Even, recently the development of the criminal news experience good progress by being packaged in much better specifications in the form of both hard news and feature. Television is a means of information which could be used until now by keeping on providing and implementing the breakthrough that is kept on conducting in the Sapu Lidi program which could be included as one of the top program in the Agropolitan Television in presenting the news presentation around Malang Raya. Therefore, the formulation of the problems researched is the news theme which dominates the program presentation of ATV Sapu Lidi. This research used the quantitative descriptive research type, that is the research that describes the facts or population characteristics or certain field systematically, factually, and accurately. The research used the contents analysis which is generally by making the measurement or coding that is based on the determined categories. The data presentation is conducted by arranging and mentioning each frequency in a series. Based on the research results which was conducted as per problems formulation presented by the writer, it could be concluded, as following : 1. The themes of the criminal news in the Sapu Lidi Program in ATV – Batu which was conducted within 3 ( three ) months were as following : a. Robbery News, which consists of : thieves, looting / plundering, snatching. In this criminal news presentation, the robbery occupies the top position, that is : presentation level of 56.7 % from total entire themes. The robbery happens so many times because life necessities which are getting pressed the poor and the jobless people. b. Economy News, which consists of : smuggling, illegal trading, gambling. The kinds of economy crime occupies the second position, that is : 23.3 % from the total entire themes.
