- The disaster that struck Yogyakarta is a tragic event that can not be avoided by anyone, nor by the elderly, where the condition of elderly victims of the earthquake was so alarming, with the condition most physically injured because of falling buildings and there is also a psychic wound. These conditions make the elderly victims of the earthquake should be as much as possible to maintain life by using all the capabilities in a variety of limitations so that they managed to live their lives. The purpose of this study is, to describe how the meaningfulness of life elderly victims of the earthquake and to find out what makes the elderly victims of the earthquake can live life with a strong, vibrant and successful in a variety of limitations This type of research used in this research is qualitative descriptive, which will describe or describe all the data obtained about the meaningfulness of life elderly victims of the earthquake in the form of the sentence paragraphs. Collecting data in this study using interview and observation. Interviews are not only intended to research subjects but also to others who have additional information (significant others). The subjects in this study were elderly victims of the earthquake in Yogyakarta Special Region who lived in the village Sribit, Bambanglipuro District, Bantul regency of three persons. The discovery of the meaning of life really is personal to the meaning of one's own life is not necessarily the same as the meaning of life that everyone else has. Meaningfulness of life in the elderly is a perception held by the elderly about the life lived, including the activities undertaken even if the activity is not a physical activity that are considered useful, valuable and could be the purpose of life for the elderly themselves or others. Results showed that elderly victims of the earthquake had a positive assessment of the life lived, the assessment is manifested in the form of resignation to the destiny that had been established without forgetting the effort to live a life. Meaningfulness of life that is owned by the three subjects after a disaster happens can they gain through various processes, in which three subjects had experienced loss, loneliness, confusion, sadness and self-distrust. Of the subjects attitude toward life that served to make them never feel worried about the future and it is also what makes them eager to continue to live a life and find meaning in life are very meaningful and a joy for them.
