- Gastritis acute is a condition characterized by inflammation of the gastric mucosa. This inflammation can cause swelling and even the release of superficial mucosal epithelial cells. When the superficial mucosal epithelium is released, the stomach will experience inflammation which eventually causes digestive disorders. Continuous squeezing of an empty stomach can damage the stomach. This happens because when the stomach is empty, the stomach will be squeezed until the stomach wall is blistered and even injured (LeMone, et al, 2016). Gastritis can be controlled by pharmacological and non-pharmacological therapy. One of the nonpharmacological therapies for gastritis sufferers is progressive muscle relaxation. The results of the application of progressive muscle relaxation are to determine the effectiveness of reducing the pain scale. The method used by the author is a case study. The author gives this relaxation 1 time a day for 30 minutes with 15 consecutive movements in 3 days of implementation. With pain scale measurements carried out pre and post progressive muscle relaxation. The results obtained after giving this progressive muscle relaxation the client experienced a decrease in the pain scale from 5 (1-10) to 2 (1-10). It can be concluded that the provision of progressive muscle relaxation has an effect on decreasing the pain scale.
