  • Acute respiratory infections, also known as ARI, are usually causedbyviruses or bacteria. Management of upper respiratory tract infections canbeinthe form of pharmacological and non-pharmacological, using non- pharmacological techniques, one of which is using slow deep breathingtechniques. The purpose of the study was to determine the ef ectiveness of slowdeep breathing exercises on breathing patterns in congested patients. Thetechnique used for data collection is by using interview, observation, andliterature study. Participants were taken as many as one person. Fromthe resultsobtained after the slow deep breathing action there is a change in the respiratoryrate within the normal range, and a change in the respiration rate, whichis23x/minute. Seeing this, it can be concluded that there is an efect of theapplication of slow deep breathing on respiration rate in ARI. Slowdeepbreathing can be used as a complementary therapy to improve breathing patternsin nursing care for ARI.
