- This research was conducted based on the findings of problems related to the recognition of literacy of children in the BI group at the level of the surade. This study was to obtain an overview of the application of flashcard media in recognizing literacy of children aged 5-6 years at the level of the surade. This study used qualitative descriptive research, carried out at TK Pertiwi Surade from February to July 2020, the research subjects as the principal and two as the class teacher of the BI group. Data collection was carried out by observation, interview and documentation study methods. This research was conducted to determine the application of flashcard media in literacy learning for children aged 5-6 years at TK Pertiwi SuradeThe results obtained by using flashcard media can optimize literacy development, after the application of flashcard media is more optimal there is a significant increase after the application of flashcard media. Most children can name familiar letter symbols, recognize the sound of initial letters and the names of objects around them, mention groups of pictures that have the same initial sound, understand the relationship between sounds and letter shapes, can read their own names, write down own name and understand the meaning in the word story. All abilities in recognizing literacy for children aged 5-6 years can be achieved well and there is a significant increase after the continuous application of flashcard media.
