Ability to prevent transmission of infection in the hospital and Universal
Precaution is give to patient with quality care. A nurse, ability to prevent
transmission of infection have influence with the occupation. Professional
nursing personnel have a vital role in infection control program because they
always in close contact with the patent. Therefore they have to have sufficient
knowledge on how diseases are infected from patients to patients and method used
for universal precaution.
Objective : To identify knowledge of nurses about universal precaution at RS
PKU Muhammadiyah of Yogyakarta Hospital.
Method : This was a descriptive quantitative study with cross sectional approach.
Subject of the study were 35 nurses at inpatient room. Data of knowledge were
obtained through questionnaire.
Result : As many as 19 nurses (54%) had sufficient knowledge about universal
precaution; 10 nurses (29%) had good knowledge and 6 nurses (17%) had
insufficient knowledge.
Conclusion : Knowledge of nurses about universal precaution at RS PKU
