- Assessment and evaluation are essential components of teaching and learning activities. Assessment is important in education and plays a critical role in the teaching process; through interactive assessment, teachers can classify and grade their students, provide feedback, and structure their teaching accordingly, with the emphasis on students' reading ability. As a result, the purpose of this research is to investigate the characteristics of interactive reading assessments and to identify the needs of teachers in developing interactive reading assessments. This is a research and development (R&D) project that collects data through interviews and observation. The interviewees for this study were two English teachers, and the reading assessment form was observed by the teacher. The findings revealed that, of the five main characteristics discovered by the researchers, six characteristics of interactive reading assessment matched the needs of teachers. The goal is to create an effective reading ability assessment for teachers to assess and complete students' basic competencies. Furthermore, it improves students' reading skills. The main interactive reading type used in the researcher's interactive reading assessment form was information transfer: charts, maps, and graphs. As a result, the researcher hopes that this study will be useful to material developers.
