  • Each school in Indonesia is encouraged to provide the best learning experience to achieve the goal of learning recovery. However, schools have limited numbers of high-quality English learning materials. Learning materials need a media that can make the learning process become interesting and fun. One of the proper media is learning video. Learning video is one of the mediums that can make them more active, creative, and enthusiastic (Sukmanasa, Novita & Majid, 2019, p. 72). This study analyzed the caption text. The function of making caption text is not only to provide information to the reader, but also to entertain, persuade, describe, or provoke the reader. This function depends on the point of view of the caption writer. In addition, the writing of the caption text must consist of at least three sentences, namely opening, body, and closing. In this study, if students can make captions by paying attention to the point of view, social function, and structure of the text, then students can be said to be smart language users. This study using a qualitative method with research design is Research and Development (R&D). The steps of this study are need analysis, research planning, and developing a preliminary form of product. This study found that the characteristics of English learning video content were based on aspects of video, learning, learning materials, writing, captions, Vocational High School, Vocational High School students (adolescent). This study is expected to produce more research on video development as learning material in making captions.
