  • In this study, the writer tries to analyze the various methods used by teachers to improve the students' reading comprehension skills in the 21st century, and also to find suitable strategic solutions in teaching reading comprehension in English. Advances in information and technology have influenced many aspects of life including education, especially internet technology which has a positive effect on education, especially in the learning process of reading comprehension in English. English is one of the international languages. This language is used all over the world. As a result, Indonesian government has decided that English is foreign language in Indonesia. In addition, it is the first foreign language taught as a compulsory subject in junior high school, senior high school and university in Indonesia. In the past, learning to read still used conventional methods such as books, modules and blackboards, but nowadays, along with the progress of the times, students, teachers, lecturers and students can use interactive multimedia technologies such as smartphones and desktop computers that can make learning to be more effective, innovative, creative and interactive. The method of this research is qualitative research. The subject of this research is the eighth grade English teacher. The writer used descriptive qualitative with interviews, and questionnaires. Descriptive method is a method used to examine the status of human groups, an object, a condition, the thoughts, and the events that will occur. The instrument of this research is interviews, and questionnaires.
