  • Becoming a professional teacher that can operate technology in the 21st century is very crucial because students in 21st century have been known about technology. It would be must for teachers to understand the needs of students especially using technology. To become a professional teacher in teaching, a teacher must have a lot of creativity, knowledge, and skill for operate technology. A teacher must adapt student’s need in using technology especially in the 21st century. The purpose of this research is to know the needed of English teachers’ skills in using ICT for teaching and to identify the effort of English teachers for teaching in the 21st century. This research uses qualitative method that interview 5 respondents those are 2 teachers and 3 students in SMAN 1 DUKUPUNTANG. Researcher find several indicators that teachers must be carried out including: (1) English teacher’s skill in using ICT, (2) English teacher competence in teaching activity, (3) The use of ICT product for develop teaching and learning activity, (4) Teacher prepare of teaching and learning activity for facing 21st century, (5) Teachers role in teaching and learning activity, (6) Teachers strategy in teaching and learning activity, and (7) Teachers adjust for students need in the 21st century. The finding of this research is teachers need skills to use ICT technology such as WhatsApp, Zoom, and YouTube for teaching and learning activity. In addition, teachers have a crucial role for students, such as be a controller, educator, motivator, and assessor especially in relation between teacher and students.
