- Speaking is the most important language skill that English language learners need to master in 21st century. The National Research Council (2010) has elaborated the following as essential: adaptability, complex communication or social skills, non routine problem solving, self management, self development, and systems thinking. The subject of this research was English teacher in eleventh grade and 36 students in eleventh grade senior high school. The aims of this research is to find out the strategy, media, material in teaching and learning speaking skills and learners needs in speaking skills 21st century in eleventh grade students at Senior High School 1 Dukupuntang. The data collected through interview and questionnaire. The first result of this research the teacher used group discussion strategy, non printed media such as video, and material of ten expression that usually used in daily life. The second result is the need of learners in 21st century speaking skills, learners should have 4C skills (Critical thinking, Creativity, Collaboration, Communication) in speaking skills and the learning style of learners was group discussion, using non printed media that make their interesting and enjoy to study, and then the material who relate in daily life.
