  • Mobile-Assisted Language Learning (MALL) is used to improve language learning with the sophistication of the mobile phone features that make it easier for teachers in the learning process (e.g., Grammarly, Google Doc, and Kamusku). Writing is considered to be a problem for EFL learners. This research aims to know how students engage the writing skills aspects with smartphones and the requirement for EFL learners to learn writing skills using smartphones features. The researcher use qualitative method and for collecting the data in the field, the researcher used Critical Literary Review, interview, and questionnaire. The result of the Critical Literary Review revealed that smartphone features are beneficial for the requirements of learning writing. Most of students use Internet feature for learning writing such as Web-Based Applications, Google Doc, Grammarly, and WhatsApp. At the same time, the result of the interview and questionnaire revealed that in the teaching and learning writing process in using smartphones, the students use KamusKu, web-based applications, video, and others. Therefore, from the features used, students need guidance during the writing process, like teachers provide web source recommendations to get information, so they do not seek information in the wrong way.
