- The name is not translated from one language to another, but allows to be rewritten in another language by using adjacent letters in the character of sounds. This study aims to analyze the transliteration symbols phoneme in proper noun of the Indonesian language into Arabic based on phonological and graphologist approach and expected to provide solutions to these problems. The study sources are scattered texts in 30 Arabic news media online. Indonesian alphabet characters are very different from the Arabic language. Indonesian is written with the Latin script whereas Arabic with Arabic alphabet system. Factors causing the emergence of this variant seems to be caused by lack of international standards related to the Latin-Arabic transcription symbols especially for Indonesian-Arabic. as in the case of rewriting the phoneme / c / into Arabic, Phoneme /C/ is one of the letters not found in Arabic phonemes thus resulting in the emergence of transcriptional variation symbol of Latin to Arabic such as <ق، ش، ك، س، خ> and <تش> (Ibn Murad,1979:221; Attarazy & Amin, 1984:207). This case has implications for the decoding process by readers. Key word : phoneme, transcription, symbol, Arabic
