IMPROVING ENGLISH PRONUNCIATION OF FIFTH YEAR STUDENTS THROUGH READING ALOUD AT SDN 006 PAYUNG SEKAKI, ROKAN HULU

  • Abstract The objective of this research was to know the effect of pronunciation ability through reading aloud of fifth year students at SDN 006 Payung Sekaki Rokan Hulu. In carrying out the research, the writer used experimental research and used cluster sampling to take the samples of the research. This research involves two groups are experimental and control group. The writer giving reading test to the students at both the pre test and post test in experimental group and control group about narrative texts which consists of 20 items in form reading text. However, in applying the reading aloud technique treatment only for experimental group with teaching and learning process about five meetings. For control group did not the same treatment. The English teacher only using conventional technique. After the writer applied reading aloud technique, the students in experimental group able to improving their pronunciation. It can be seen from the different result of the students’ reading test between pre test and post test. It was found the mean score of pretest is 52,5 and mean score of post test is 74. It means, there is significant improvement of the fifth year students pronunciation after using reading aloud technique and after applied reciprocal teaching, the students able to pronounce the words.
