- This study aims to determine the naming of people in the village of Sedinginan Tanah Putih District Rokan Hilir District. The method used is the method of qualitative description, the authors present the data by observing aspects of quality and quality examined such as the nature, circumstances, roles and values. Qualitative research is used to describe the person's nickname in Sedinginan Village, Tanah Putih Sub-District, Rokan Hilir Regency by descriptive analysis result obtained from the research informant. Sources of data in this study is the name of the person nickname Sedingin, which consists of 17 nicknames. Data collection techniques used are interview techniques. Furthermore, the data analysis techniques used are as follows. First, classify the data obtained from the sources based on the naming teaser and the issues studied. Second, analyze one by one data that has been grouped about the naming and meaning contained in it. Third, summarizes the results of data analysis so that it can answer the research problem. The results of the research found four naming such as naming based on the mention of the characteristic number of 13 names, the name of the shortening based on the number of 2 names, naming based on the place of origin amounted to 1 name, and naming based on part amounted to 1 name.
