  • This study aims to analyze and to describe the quality of English USBN test items in terms of difficulty level and discriminating power at SMPN 10 Tangerang Selatan in academic year 2017/2018. The research is categorized as quantitative research by using descriptive analysis. The research is also supported by numerical data that are analyzed statistically by using Anates Program V 4.0.2 and manual counting. The researcher took 80 students from the ninth-grade students as the respondents and divided the students into three groups based on students’ score: 27% (21 students) of upper group, 46% (38 students) of middle group, and 27% (21 students) of lower group. The researcher only took the upper group and lower group to be analyzed, it is aimed to find out how well the test items differentiate the students between upper group and lower group. The findings of the research showed that English USBN test items had 65% (26 test items) included to be moderate level in terms of difficulty level and 45% (18 test items) included to be good quality in terms of discriminating power.
