- The aim of this research is to analyze the effect of conventional bank and Islamic bank to economic growth using the Vector Auto Regression (VAR) / Vector Error Correction Model (VECM) method. Variables which are used by this study are credit and sharia financing as representation of banking system, export, and investment. The finding revealed that based on the VECM estimation test, in the long term all variables has a positive effect toward Gross Domestic Product (GDP) except sharia financing has a negative effect toward Gross Domestic Product (GDP). In addition, based on IRF test, shock of credit, Islamic bank financing, export and variable of investment responded fluctuate by Gross Domestic Product (GDP). The finding also revealed that based on FEVD test, variable of credit has a biggest contribution toward Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in this model.
