- This quantitative research was aimed to get the empirical evidence on the effect of 3-2-1 Strategy on Students’ Reading Comprehension of Hortatory Exposition Text at the Eleventh Grade of SMAN 10 Kota Tangerang Selatan in Academic Year 2017/2018. The research design used is a quasi-experimental design. The population of the research consisted of all the eleventh grade students of the school, which is then taken 70 students as the research samples through purposive sampling. The samples are placed into two groups: an experimental class and a control class with 35 students in each class. The primary instrument used is objective test with interview as a secondary data to get students’ responses of using 3-2-1 strategy. The data obtained were analyzed using t-test referring a significance level of α= 0.05 and also calculated the effect size. The p-value of the pre-test is 0.327 ≥ sig α= 0.05, and the p-value of post-test is 0.000 < sig α= 0.05. The effect size is 0.8. This revealed that there was statistical significance in the post-test result, which can also be concluded that 3-2-1 strategy is effective with a moderate level on the students’ reading comprehension of hortatory exposition text.
