  • The objective of this research was to analyze the effect of information asymmetry, institutional ownership, firm size and earning management on the cost of capital. Information asymmetry as measured by bid-ask spread, the institutional ownership as measured by percentage from number of institute shares with number of company shares, the firm size as measured by market value of equity, and the earning management as measured by discretionary accrual, whereas the cost of capital as measured by ohlson model. This research included quantitave research. The research method used is causal comparative research, such as the research that has purposed for analyzing the effects between two variables or more. The sample in this research were companies of the manufacturing sector at the Indonesian Stock Exchanges. Total of sample in this research were 74 companies. The sampling methods in this research used purposive sampling which were published in financial report during period 2009-2012. Type of data used are secondary data. The data processing method used multiple linear regression using t test and F test. This research used statistic approach. The results showed that (1) the information asymmetry had not positive significant effect on cost of capital, (2) the institutional ownership had negative significant effect on cost of capital (3) the firm size had negative significant effect on cost of capital (4) the earning management had not positive significant effect on cost of capital, and (5) simultaneously of information asymmetry, institutional ownership, firm size, and earning management had significant effect on the cost of capital.
