This study employed qualitative method with content analysis design, where documents of national examination from the latest three academic years are used. To collect the data, Byram’s cultural criteria and Cortazzi and Jin’s cultural type material rubrics are used as the instruments. The result of the checklist worksheet then tabulated and transform into statistical number. The researcher then interpreted the data based on the categories made with supporting academic references and notable previous studies. The result showed that cultural information in English national Examination mostly portrayed trough behavior, social and daily life context. Therefore, tangible cultural object is shown more in the passages. Meanwhile, for the cultural type materials, target culture (culture from inner circle countries; USA, UK and Australia) is prominent (46, 34%). In contrast, source culture (Indonesian culture) is less exposed (17, 08%). In line with this, International culture (culture from expanding circle countries where English is not used as first language such as China, Japan, Korea and Saudi Arabia) also not frequently appears (17, 08%). Last, cultural-neutral materials where the cultural information has no bound with any countries or the materials is scientifically explained is presented more (19, 50%). This data indicates an unbalance proportion of cultural representation in the national examination test item in the context of cultural awareness.
