Rupture Aneurysm of the Pulmonary Artery

  • Ruptured aneurysm of main truncus pulmonary artery is a rare event and occasionally reported as a cause of sudden death. It represent less than 1% of all thoracic artery aneurysm. We reported a thirty four year-old male body corpse who was sent to Bhayangkara Hospital Pekanbaru for an autopsy. From External examination, there were no injury on body corpse. Autopsy findings macroscopically, there were ruptured aneurysm of main truncus pulmonary artery, blood and blood clots in pericardium cavity. Histopathological examination showed acute myocardiac infarct, congested and hyperemia of lungs, and congested of liver. There were no poison from toxicological examination. The cause of death for this patient was cardiac tamponade due to rupture aneurysm of the main pulmonary artery.Keywords: rupture, aneurysm, pulmonary artery, autopsy
