- Number of HIV infected children is increasing as the number of the HIV infected pregnants women is also mounting. In most cases, this is caused by the vertical transmission from HIV seropositive mothers during pregnancy, delivery, or breast feeding. Besides, the transmission can also through blood transfusion, using contaminated syringes and needles for medications or drugs, and high-risk unprotected sexual intercourse among adolescents. Incidence of the disease is more in the city than in rural area. One of the parents of many AIDS/HIV-infected children has died because of the HIV/AIDS. So that, the carring and the future of the children is very difficult. The signs and symptoms of HIV/AIDS in children are not specific. More over, the laboratorium tests to diagnose the disease in infants are very complicated. Therefore, the clinical criteria are needed to determine whether the child or infant is infected by HIV. This method is very usefull especially in developing countries or in areas which are lack of facilities. To resolve all of these problems, the comprehenship HIV-infected children management is needed. To be running well, this management should be conducted by cooperation between family and involved health worker, because the treatment must be done for long time.Keywords: HIV/AIDS, Child/infant, Management
