  • Influenza caused by influenza virus could cause very severe complications on humans, resulting in mortality. This disease emerges on certain seasons all over the world, causing life and material loss. The world today is taken aback by the emergence of the new influenza strain, especially the H5N1 A influenza virus. In the future it is estimated that this virus may cause pandemic all over the world. To prevent the influenza disease epidemic, prevention through immunization is performed. The prevention effort is estimated yet to be satisfactory. Based on those facts, a new antiviral drug has been developed for treatment and prophylaxis. The drug considered to be effective for treatment and prophylaxis is the neuraminidase inhibitor drug: oseltamivir. Researches show that this drug could be used as antiviral treatment on human as well as for the treatment of the H5N1 A influenza virus.Keywords: influenza virus, influenza antivirus, neuraminidase inhibitor, oseltamivir
