  • The mortality rate of influenza infection is low. However, immunization to prevent spreading of disease is considered important. This immunization is aimed to reduce the morbidity and mortality rate, especially for children, elderly (more than 65 years old), people with chronic infections, and those who are prone to suffer influenza infection. This vaccine, having few adverse effects, is effective to prevent influenza. There are several types of influenza vaccine: live attenuated vaccine, inactivated vaccine, subunit vaccine. Boosted by the new technological advancement in vaccine production, there are several types of vaccine available now, such as vaccine with adjuvant, DNA vaccine, recombinant vaccine. Each of these vaccines is hoped to improve the effectivity of the vaccine with low adverse effects.Keywords: immunization, vaccine, influenza virus
