- Organic apple cultivation has big opportunity to be developed. Optimal organic farming of insect standing in taking care of ecosystem stability. By studying ecosystem structure can be managed that population of pest in control naturally. Purpose of this research is to identify various the insect types in plantation of organic and inorganic apple and knows diversity of insect in plantation of organic and inorganic apple. Research has been done from May 2007 to August 2007, in apple plantation's group of farmer AKAL (Angudi Kelestarian Agrobis Lokal) village of Bumiaji, Batu city and Ecology Laboratory, Faculty of Science and Technology, The State Islamic University of Malang. The research character is descriptive quantitativeness to apply exploration method. Observation is done systematically to insect community with absolute method and relative method (pitfall traps, yellow sticky traps and tullgren funnel). Result of identification indicates that insect is colledted consisted of 51 families entering in 15 orders, that are Blataria, Coleoptera, Collembola, Dermaptera, Diptera, Hemiptera, Homoptera, Hymenoptera, Isoptera, Lepidoptera, Neuroptera, Odonata, Orthoptera, Thysanoptera and Tricoptera. Insect found at plantation of organic apple consisted of herbivora insect (20 types), predator (9 types), parasitoid (7 types), and pollinator (1 types). The insect community at inorganic garden consisted of herbivora (18 types), predator (8 types), parasitoid (4 types), and pollinator (2 types). Diversity of insect in organic garden higher than inorganic garden, with diversity index 2,61 for oragnic garden and 2,52 for inorganic garden.
