  • This study aims at assessing the satisfaction of stakeholders on the implementation of participatory forest management program (Pengelolaan Hutan Bersama Masyarakat) PHBW and its influencing factors, as well as to formulate its development strategy. Data used in this study were collected using both questionnaire technique and face-to face interviews. Questionnaire contains a set of questions directed to evaluate the satisfaction of respondents in the implementation of PHBM program. Respondents were categorized into two groups : farmers and no farmers, and each group was sampled using different sampling techniques. A purposive sampling technique was applied to non farmer respondents, while randon1 sampling was used for farmer respondents. Total number of sample was 62 respondents, of which 35 respondents were farmers. The study demonstratives that most of respondents (78.96 %) were satisfied with the implementation of PHBM program, which has been carried out by Perum Perhutani in Kuningan Forest Management Unit (FMLI) during the last three years. Perum Perhutani has the highest average score for satisfaction (3,32), followed by District Government of Kuningan (3,11), Farmers (3,06), University (2,83) and NGO (2.54). Based on Kruskal Wallis test, there are significant differences among respondents in view of their perceptions on PHBM program. This reflects the different roles that respondents played during the implementation of the program,. However, from both planning and implementation point of views the PHBM program has performed well. This has led Kuningan FMU to apply strategy that expand the PHBM program through various ways, namely : enlarging PHBM areas, improving forest productivity, and enhancing cooperation with other relevant institutions.
