- The main duty of Muslim preachers is to remind people With reference to the Qur'an (inzar bi al-Qur'an), that is to pronounce the content of the holy Qur' an through means as indicated in it. In other words, the obligation of the religious preachers is to balagh. The word means to enlighten people with clear explanation on the purpose of making religious messages intellectually acceptable and spiritually sensible. The true meaning of the term balagh is not simply getting people together and preaching in front of them. Rather, it further means to enlighten wisely with thorough explanation aimed at facilitating people to achieve a comprehensive understanding to be implemented in daily life. In this light, the burden of the preachers comprises activities in various aspects including that of education, society, and development. This wide covering is rooted in the value of the preaching philosophy itself, that is, to lead individuals or societies in a journey from infidelity into faith. This value indicates that the duty of preaching is not merely burdened to religious scholars. Rather, it is a responsibility subjected to every Muslim with expertise or skill in his respective field.
