- This reserach was intended to know whether critical thinking could improve students? reading comprehension on descriptive and recount text at the eight grade of MTs Daar El-Istiqomah. And was aimed to know the implementation of critical thinking to improve students? reading comprehens ion. The reseach method of was classroom action research (CAR) which based on Kurt Lwein model that consisted of four stages. The research data was taken from classroom observation, interview, and the result of post test. Thus, the reserach was inculuded quantitative descriptive reserach. The finding of the reserach were : (1) The result of post test 1 for descriptive text reached 65%, which showed 26 students who passsed the KKM and there were 14 students who did not. And for recount text reached 62.5%, which showed 25 students who passsed the KKM and there were 15 students who did not, (2) The result of post test 2 for descriptive text reached 77%, which showed 31 students who passsed the KKM and there were 9 students who did not. And for recount text reached 82.5%, which showed 33 students who passsed the KKM and there were 7 students who did not, (3) The teacher did his role as good as possible. He conducted teaching reading comprehension on descriptive and recount tex trough critical thiking well.
