- The aim of this research is to describe the using of euphemism terms in Les Miserables movie script. There are two aspects that become focus of the study in this research, they are the types of euphemism and why they use it in this movie, and the influence of the meaning relation of the taboo terms and euphemism terms to the semantic change that occur in euphemism terms. The writer uses the descriptive qualitative method to analyze euphemism terms and taboo terms. To get the valid data, the writer watches the Les Miserables movie first and then reads the movie script. In this step the writer does it repeatedly, she watches the movie and reads the script for many times until she found the euphemism terms there. After that, she categorizes and analyzes it use the Keith Allan and Kate Burridge theories about euphemism and taboo words. Finding of this study shows that the writer found eight types of euphemism in this movie. These are metaphor, rhyming slang, circumlocution, full omission, metonymy, synecdoche, hyperbole, and understatement. From all that types, the kind of hyperbole is the most used in this movie. The euphemism terms is used to replace the taboo terms.
