  • Since the story mapping technique can help students to visualize the text, to motivate them in reading, and to make their thinking more organized, the writer was interested in conducting a research by applying the technique of story mapping toward students� reading comprehension through the material of narrative text. The purpose of this study is to find out the empirical data concerning whether story mapping technique is effective or not toward students reading comprehension of narrative text. This study was held in February to October 2013 at Yaspina Islamic Junior High School. The method used in this study was quantitative method in the design of quasi experimental study. The sampling technique used in this study was purposive sampling. The writer took two classes as the subject of this study that were experiment class and controlled class. The data got from both experiment class and controlled class were analyzed by using T-test formula. The result of calculation showed that in the significance degree of 5%, the value of ttest (to) > ttable (tt) (4.20 > 2.02). According to the criteria of the test, the result showed that there is a significant difference between students� achievement in reading comprehension of narrative text by using story mapping technique and without story mapping technique. It means that the technique of story mapping is effective and applicable at the 2nd grade of Yaspina Islamic Junior High School towards students� reading comprehension of narrative text
