The translation accuracy of phrasal verb idiom in �The Hunger Games� Novel by Suzanne Collins

  • This thesis purposes to explain what translation idiom strategies on its translation in The Hunger Games novel through the sentences in the novel and also the level of accuracy and acceptability of its translation which is supported by the data from the participants. In addition, the objective of study is to analyze what the translation idiom strategies which used by translator and the quality of accuracy and acceptability based on the assessment of participants. The research methodology is qualitative method that is written by descriptive analysis. Furthermore, for the technique of data analysis in this research, the writer employs herself to collect data; by reading the novel and its translation, marking the selecting data, classifying and analyzing them based on translation idiom theory, and making questionnaire to assess the level of accuracy and acceptability. As the result of the research, the writer finds out that the translator uses four of the translation idiom strategies to translate The Hunger Games and the level of accuracy and acceptability are achieved. Consequently, the quality of its translation is good because the translator translatess idiom correctly. The four strategies that are used in translation are: translation by using an idiom of similar meaning and form, translation by using idiom of similar meaning but dissimilar form, translation by using paraphrase, and translation by omitting some phrases
