- This study was carried out to analyze and to classify the types and the sources of students� errors in using regular and irregular verbs. The error collected was classified based on Corder�s theory. Besides, the purpose of this study were to find out their frequency of occurrence and to find out the sources of errors which students made in using regular and irregular verbs. The method used in this study was qualitative. The qualitative design applied in this study was case study. Furthermore, the subject of this study was second grade students of VIII-A class which consisted of 36 students which are taken by random sampling. To describe students� errors and analyze the data by using formula: P=F/N x 100%, P=Percentage, F=Frequency of errors made, N=Total of students� errors. The data was taken from the test; it was written test. The result of the error analysis process showed that students committed error into three types: omission, addition and miselection. The findings showed that there are 310 errors made by the students. From the frequency of each error types, misformation was the error which most frequently produced by the students in their using regular and irregular verbs. Misformation which consists of 258 errors or 88, 35% it is followed by Omission with 20 errors or 6, 84%, and the last is addition with 14 errors 4, 79%.The most frequent sources of error were intralingual transfer. Which consist students� misanalysis 83, 33% It was followed by students� false analogy with 16, 66%. It was because most of the students were still poor in understanding irregular forms
