  • The objective of this research is to see the effectiveness of using CIRC technique in improving students? reading comprehension on recount text at the second year of MTs Negeri Rajeg-Tangerang academic year 2013/2014. The method used in this study was quantitative method. The design of the study was pre-experimental design. It is called pre-experimental study because this research describes the effectiveness of using CIRC technique to improve students? reading comprehension on recount text that was done in one class. Before doing the activity, the students were given pre-test. Then the students were taught recount text by using CIRC technique. The last, the students were given post test to know whether CIRC technique is effective or not to improve students? reading comprehension on recount text. The result of the study showed that there was significance different between students? score in learning reading comprehension on recount text before and after applying CIRC technique. According to the result of statistical calculation it can be seen that t0 is 6.67 and degree of freedom (df) is 24, whereas the value of tt on the degree of significance 5% and 1% are 2.064 and 2.797. In other word, the value of t0 (tobservat ion) is higher than tt (ttable). It means that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted and the null hypothesis (H0)is rejected.
