- This research is aimed at analyzing the content validity of the summative test at the second year students of SMP MUHAMMADIYAH 17 CIPUTAT. More specifically, it is aimed at determining whether the materials of the test items which is designed by the English teachers in line with the syllabus or not. The writer used descriptive analysis of the test items per number. Quantitatively, the data are collected using simple percentage formula. The formula is: . The data are taken from English summative test item and the syllabus used in the school. The finding of the research stated that the English summative test at the second year students of SMP MUHAMMADIYAH 17 CIPUTAT is 71% valid in terms of its conformity with the suggested indicators in the syllabus. The test items that represented the suggested indicators in the syllabus are 32 items and the unconformity items are 13 items, it means sufficient because the percentage falls into the level 56%-75%. Then, based on the content analysis, the writer found that the test item does not represent the whole indicators from the syllabus because there are 67% indicators are not represented in the test item. It means that English summative test at the second year students of SMP MUHAMMADIYAH 17 CIPUTAT has good content validity but the distribution of the indicators in the test item is bad because 67% indicators are not represented in the test item.
