An analysis on students errors in using pronoun forms: a case study in the first grade of MTS Nurul Iman Rajeg Tangerang academic Year 2011/2012

  • This research is aimed at obtaining the clear information about types and causes of students� error in using pronoun forms and to know the reason why the first grade of MTS Nurul Iman Tangerang made those errors by using descriptive analysis method. The samples of this research are 30 students of the first grade of MTS Nurul Iman Tangerang. To collect the data, the writer gave a test consisting of 30 items to know why the students do the errors in using pronoun forms. The findings of the study stated that the most level of the students� errors made by the first grade of MTS Nurul Iman Tangerang is in object pronoun with 85.5%, the second level is possessive pronoun with 81.66%, the third level is possessive adjective with 71.11%, the next level is reflexive pronoun with 53.88% and the last level or the lowest level of error is subject pronoun with 47.77%. Most of errors could be categorized as miss-selection that is caused by the mother tongue interference/interlingual transfer
