- This thesis is aimed at recognizing the types of illocutionary acts that used in the transcription of Despicable Me movie which occur directly or indirectly. There may be some actions behind the words that someone utters in their conversations. The purpose of this research is to find out the types of illocutionary acts based on Searle�s theory and to find the meaning of the illocutionary acts of the movie transription of Despicable Me. The movie transcription is watched and studied by the researcher as the unit of analysis, and the method that used in this research is qualitative descriptive method. This research is used the random sampling method to collect the data and studied the data which are taken from the movie transcription of Despicable Me. From the three research questions given, the result of analysis shows that there are fifty six types of illocutionary acts which are found in the Movie Transcription of Despicable Me. Therefore it is analyzed eighteen types of illocutionary acts based on Searle�s theory such as expressives, directives, representatives and commissives.
