  • This research concerns with linguistics study. The aim of the research is to analyze and explain about the non-observance maxims of the Cooperative Principle and the conversational implicature in Twilight movie transcript. As a unit analysis is the conversations among characters in Twilight movie transcript. A descriptive-qualitative is used as a method by reading the transcript and determining the data. After getting the selected data, the next steps are classifying and analyzing the data descriptively based on related theory of Grice?s Cooperative Principle. Then, the result of this study shows the non-observance maxims of the Cooperative Principle and the conversational implicature. The purposes of the disobediences maxim are to explain, to show the distaste, to make a joke, to conceal something, to compare, to make an offer, to tease, to refuse and to convince. The purpose that most commonly found in the conversation in Twilight movie transcript is to conceal something. Therefore, the disobedience maxim of the Cooperative Principle is not only happens to undermine a conversation between the participants, but also to response something indirectly because there is a special purpose that described in implicature.
