In this research, the writer focuses on translation study that is the translation shift in the subtitle of Tangled film. The objectives of this research are (1) to describe what type of translation shift found in the subtitle of film, (2) to describe how their equivalence both of source and target language is. The writer uses qualitative descriptive method in order to reach the objectives of the research. The writer uses herself as the researcher to collect data; by watching the film, finding the script of film, reading the translation of script of film (subtitle), marking and classifying the data, furthermore analyzing the selected data based on translation shift and equivalence which are taken from relevant theories. Findings of this study show that: first, all of types of translation shift based on Catford, are used in translating script of film, belong to level shift, structure shift, class shift, unit shift and intra system shift; second, the most translation shift occurred is in structure shift pattern; third, based on analyzing the data, it can be concluded that in translating translation shift may also analyzes to get acceptable language in target language; finally, the writer also analyzing equivalence in translation based on Mona Baker?s perspective
