- This research aims to find out the impact of the oblique translation on maintaining both the directives intentions and the accuracy of the target text. To achieve those, the researcher used the qualitative method based on Bach & Harnish?s theory about the illocutionary act and Vinay & Daberlnet?s theory of oblique translation. Then, the randomly chosen data is assessed by using the participants? questionnaire information supported by Nababan?s theory. The research found that there are five categories of the directive illocutionary act discovered in both source text and target text, and all types of oblique translation were used to translate the data. From the ten chosen data, modulation and transposition were mostly to be used either to translate utterance entirely or partly. However, there are two utterances of directives illocutionary intentions in the source text that are not translated in the same functions in the target text, mostly transmuted because of using modulation. Based on the result of the translation accuracy analysis, the accuracy level is considered as less accurate where some message in source text is uneffectively conveyed into target text, which arised mostly due to using modulation and transposition.
