The effect of edmodo application to foster students' writing of narrative text: a quasi-experimental study at the tenth grade of SMAN 8 Tangerang Selatan

The objective of this research was to get empirical evidence of the effect of using Edmodo application on students? writing of narrative text at the tenth grade of SMAN 8 Kota Tangerang Selatan. The sample of this study were 50 students, which were classified into the controlled class and the experimental class through purposive sampling technique. The method used in this research was a quantitative method. The design used was a quasi-experimental study and the instrument of this research was test that consisted of pre-test and post-test form. Based on the results of statistical calculation from pre-test in the experimental class, the average of study result gained in tests with the average value was 58.08 and the average of study result gained in post-tests was 72.64. Whereas in posttest of after applying Edmodo application enhanced 14.56 point from pre-test in the experimental class. The calculation of this research was conducted by using SPSS 22 with t-test formula. From this research finding, it shows that Edmodo application gives a significant effect on students? writing of narrative text.
