- ABSTRACT Baground. Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) is an infecttion that occurs along the urinary tract, including the kidneys, due to a proliferation of microorganisms. Most of UTI are caused by bacteria, instead of viruses and fungi. In general, the bacterial infections are caused by Escherichia coli. According to data of Central Sulawesi Health Bureau in 2010, UTI is in 10th pattern of diseases in General Hospital. Method. The study applied analytic observational research with Cross Sectional approach. The population were chateterized and UTI diagnoesed patients. There were 97 patients as samples that obtained with Total Sampling. Then, data analysis was Lambda statistic test to distinguish correlation between 2 variables Result. Based on findings, there were 74 cases of UTI to > 3 days of catheter installation patients, and 0 case to < 3 days of catheter installation patients. There are 2 cases of patients who did not have UTI within > 3 days chateterized, whereas 21 cases found from < 3 days minute chateterized. From the data, patients who have longer chateter insertion have a greater risk for experiencing the incidence of UTI. It is supported by Lambda test result, p < a – p = 0,000. Conclusion. There is correlation between duration of chateter insertion with Urinary Tract Infection to patients in Undata General Hospital - Palu in 2013 periode. Keywords.
